A special thank you to Piano Instructor Radina Dosseva for compiling the list below. If you would like to add additional resources to this list, please email academy@gmu.edu.

Note: The Academy does not endorse or receive a commission from the following suggestions.

Piano Maestro by JoyTunes
iPad only, free, offers in-app purchases
Practice tool that works with any piano; evaluates for correct notes and rhythms. Teachers can use it to connect with students to assign home challenges and get a detailed report about the pieces students practiced throughout the week. (https://www.joytunes.com/apps)

Chord Tracker by Yamaha
Google Play & iOS, free
You can use your iTunes library to get a chord chart for any song. You can then customize the chart for your level, change tempo, keys, record your student, etc.

Blob Chorus
iOS, $0.99
Really fun game for ear training by matching sounds. Each blob sings a note and you have to find the blob that sings the same note as King Blob. Gets progressively more difficult.

Flashnote Derby
Google Play $2.99  |  iOS $4.99
Fun, horse-racing, note recognition/flashcard game. The student has to identify notes to get to the finish line. Correct answers make the horse go faster, wrong answers slow it down. (https://flashnotederby.com)

Note Squish
iOS $0.99
Kind of like Whack-a-mole but for note recognition. There are 3 speeds and you can customize it. Students have to select the mole whose name matches the given note.

Rhythm Cat/Treble Cat/Bass Cat/Ear Cat
Android & iOS, Lite Version (free) Full Version, ($4.99 each)
Note and rhythm recognition, as well as ear training. Levels build up progressively. Note options for CDE or DoReMi. (https://melodycats.com/)

You can have a virtual band accompany you as you practice and you can choose from 30 different accompaniment styles. You can edit existing songs or create your own. There are also 50 exercises for practicing common chord progressions. And you can transpose any chart to any key. (https://irealpro.com)
