Ace Diamond: Fairy Tale Detective*
For Ages 9-15

By Lisa Nanni-Messegee and Todd Messegee

OVERVIEW

“It was a dark and stormy night”—continuously—in this film noir style melodrama that cleverly mixes the hard-boil detective dramas of the 1950s with familiar, beloved fairy tales. Detective Ace Diamond is called upon to solve a mysterious crime that pulls him further into a world where reality and fantasy collide. But he could never have predicted who he would meet while he is on the case.

Our showcase program gives student actors the opportunity to receive top-level training as they work in an ensemble with their peers towards a final performance. The rehearsal process allows students to work with professional directors, actors, and choreographers. This is an intensive program, and one that provides actors with pride of ownership as they develop skills as performers and develop confidence in their off-stage lives.

Audition Information: All students registered for this program will be cast in the show. Please note that this shortened session will require all students to pre-record their auditions, to be submitted before the first rehearsal scheduled for February 6. More information and instructions will be emailed to registrants before the start of the program.

*This session’s show, “Ace Diamond: Fairytale Detective,” is not a musical. To ensure our students continue to build upon dancing and singing skills, there will be themed workshops in choreography, singing, and vocal technique throughout the session, in addition to working on the script. This choreography/vocal work is not a formal part of the play, but will be recorded and shared with our families at the end of the session.
