Introduction to Oil Painting for Adults (Ages 16+) 

This course is an introduction to the materials, tools, and techniques used in oil painting and students are instructed in the skills and methods through lectures, demonstrations, and one on one instruction. Students will work from observation to progress and become skilled and confident with controlling the medium and understanding the process of creating a work of art with oil paint. Landscape painting techniques will also be introduced. No prior painting experience is necessary.

Semester: SPRING 2018
 Saturdays,  Feb 17 – Apr 14, 2018   8  2.5-hr classes  (no class Mar 31st)
Ages:  16 years through adult
Time:  9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Tuition:  $300 + $45 supply fee
Location: Mason Fairfax Campus,  Art & Design Building 2044

Nathan Loda is an American realist oil painter. Loda received an MFA degree from George Mason University in 2015 and a BFA in painting from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV in 2011. Loda has exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibitions across the country and his work hangs in private and public collections. His commissioned works for restaurants such as Founding Farmers Tysons and businesses such as KO Distilling in Manassas VA, have been published in Interior Design magazine and numerous local newspapers. He has been a semi nalist for the Bethesda Trawick Prize for Contemporary Art and recipient of numerous prizes and honorable mentions in juried shows Nathan is represented by The Adah Rose Gallery in Kensington, MD.
