Jr. Instructor - Violin

Biography:

Katie Bowling is a student at George Mason University pursuing a B.M. in Music Education with a minor in pedagogy. During her high school years, she taught violin lessons at her local middle school and served as president of her school’s Tri-M National Music Honors Society chapter. She was also a member of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and participated in the South Central Senior Regional Orchestra. When she did not have a violin in her hand she played synthesizer for Hanover High School’s award-winning show choir and was a xylophonist in Hanover’s marching band.

She is currently the string section leader at the St. Robert Bellarmine chapel and is a member of the Mason Symphony Orchestra where she has served as principal second violin. Katie has also been involved in Green Machine during her time at Mason and currently gigs at weddings and church services. She has primarily taught intermediate middle school students, but also has experience instructing high school and elementary school students. Notable performances throughout Katie’s career have included performing in concert with The Piano Guys, being featured in Anthony Alvarado’s EP, playing at the SLS 18 Chicago Conference, and recently playing for a crowd of over 17,000 at the SEEK 19 Indianapolis Conference.

Katie enjoys teaching at Mason Community Arts Academy where she endeavors to instill the importance of dedication into her students as well as the joys that come with playing the violin.
