
Teaching Artist - Cello
Biography:
Cellist, Dr. Samuel Swift has held positions as a lecturer and artist in residence at the University of Virginia and has also been an adjunct assistant professor of cello at Shenandoah University, an instructor at Georgetown University, and a substitute cellist with the National and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. He has participated in the Tanglewood, Ravinia, Blossom and Banff music festivals and has studied chamber music with the Juilliard, Vermeer, and Guarneri string quartets. His concerto performances include appearances with The United States Army Orchestra, Michigan State Symphony, Northern Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic and Charlottesville Symphony.
Dr. Swift completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and Michigan State University, a Master of Music at Northern Illinois University, and received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland.
