Middle School Honors Percussion Ensemble
Ages 10 -14
Join this exciting percussion ensemble group and learn a wide variety of fun and challenging percussion ensemble music, pulling from both the classical and contemporary traditions, as well as jazz and world music. The ensemble is open to students from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, currently enrolled in middle school. Class meetings will consist of group rehearsal and members will be expected to practice their individual parts outside of rehearsals. Repertoire will also be chosen so that no members are ever sitting on the bench–everyone plays on every piece! The class will culminate with a group performance on the last scheduled meeting.
Although applicants should already have a general knowledge of scales, rudiments, and how to read percussion literature, the ensemble is designed as an educational opportunity. Experience in middle school band and/or community wind ensemble is recommended.
After Registration: Registered students should submit a letter of recommendation from their band director or private instructor to email@example.com after completing the online registration (click the Register Now button below). If the program director feels your child is not ready for the ensemble, you will be contacted before the program starts and issued a full refund.
