Steel Band Ensemble
Mason Community Arts Academy is bringing back it’s Steel Band Ensemble, bringing the sounds from the island of Trinidad and Tobago to Fairfax County! Students ranging from ages 12-18 can join for the opportunity to learn how to play the steel pan and the various instruments that make up the ensemble, while also performing a range of musical styles and genres such as calypso, soca, pop, and many others. A great part of the steel band is bringing together members of the community to celebrate the cultural importance of the instrument, which is why this class is open to all students who are members of their schools bands, choral, and orchestra programs, or who are music students studying privately.
