STOP MOTION PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO ONLINE

Do you want to be the director of your very own stop motion film? Students will experiment with various forms of stop motion photography using a variety of approaches such as actors, lay flat compositions, and household objects to create short films. Students will learn to use a variety of different software to assemble and edit their films, advancing a STEAM approach to learning. The curriculum will include film-related topics such as story boarding, production, lighting, shooting, and editing.

Sydney Carr is a high school art teacher in Fairfax County, VA. She has her Bachelor’s in Art Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She recently moved to the Fairfax County area and loves working with artists and students from the area. She is currently working on her Master’s in Art Education and loves inspiring students to create meaningful work that they are proud of and continuously pushes students to create the best work that they can.

Arthur Reinaltt is in his third year of being an Art teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. He completed his undergraduate and master’s program at George Mason University and has been working with the Mason Arts Academy since 2012. He has served as Building Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Lead Instructor, and will now be Technology and Curriculum support for the summer of 2020.

Dr. Justin Sutters was a K-12 art educator in an urban school district for seven years and also taught for two years in São Paulo, Brazil. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degree from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, attained his doctorate degree from the Ohio State University receiving national recognition for his dissertation. Since he has been an Assistant Professor and currently is the Director of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in Art Education at George Mason University. He has presented his research at the state, national and international levels and is published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He currently is the Chair of the Professional Learning through Research (PLR) working group of the National Art Education Association’s Research Commission, the NAEA Higher Education Representative for the Southeastern Division, on the review board of Art Education and Visual Arts Research (VAR) and has been a contributing member of the Data Visualization Working Group. His research focuses on pre-service practices, teacher licensure, national demography data, comparative studies/Brazilian studies, and theories pertaining to space and place.
