Biography
Saxophone Jr. Instructor
Stephen Sim is a native of Fairfax, Virginia, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance at George Mason University.
In high school, Mr. Sim had the privilege of performing in District Band, All-State Band, and with the Virginia Winds Academy saxophone quartet at the International Saxophone Symposium, hosted by the Navy Band. One of his most recent accomplishments was winning the orchestra concerto competition at Mason and being able to perform with the George Mason Symphony Orchestra in the Spring of 2023.
Since beginning his collegiate career, Mr. Sim has performed with many new musical groups and ensembles, including the George Mason Wind Symphony, the Capital Wind Symphony, the International Saxophone Symposium as a soloist, and with the Quaternion Saxophone Quartet.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Music, Mr. Sim plans to pursue a graduate study in Saxophone Performance, working towards a career as a university professor of music. He wishes to perform as much as possible in the coming years and continue his passion for saxophone.
As a student at George Mason University’s Reva and Sid Dewberry School of Music, Mr. Sim studies under the direction of Professor Ed Fraedrich.
