Intro to Traditional Photography Summer Studio

SUMMER 2019 INFORMATION WILL BE UPDATED BY JANUARY 15, 2019!

Experience the magic of creating photographs and seeing them develop before your eyes! Participants will get hands-on experience in a traditional darkroom, learn how to make cyanotypes in the sun, build a lightbox, take portraits in a professional lighting studio, and explore other professional techniques! Digital photography elements will also be introduced. Family and friends will be invited to a student showcase on the final day. No camera or previous experience is required.

An “After Care” option is available for this program from 4-6 pm for $90/week, located in Mason’s Performing Arts Building and staffed by the Academy’s Summer Staff. After registering for this program (but before final checkout/ payment!), search for and add “After Care” to your cart (be sure to choose the correct week).

Read about Ms. Heaton

Sarah Heaton is a Film major and Photography minor at George Mason University. She started studying photography while in high school at Fairfax Academy. Since then she has studied photography all around the United States and South Korea. Although she is still a student, she spends her free time freelancing in the DMV Area. Her current projects include weddings, events, and taking behind the scenes stills for short films and documentaries.
