Piano Instructor

Ya-Chi Tang, pianist, was born in Taiwan. She began her musical journey by taking Orff method classes for children at the age of four, and soon after started piano lessons at six. Excelling in Taiwan’s Special Music Program, Ms. Tang later embraced the viola, undergoing professional training throughout her junior high school years. She has been awarded first prize in the Taiwan National Student Music Competition in Piano Performance and also received first prize recognition in the Baroque Music Competition through her exceptional performances.
Driven by a passion for exploration, Ms. Tang enjoys experimenting with diverse musical expressions and styles, finding joy not only in solo piano but also in collaborative piano. During her graduate studies at George Mason University, she was actively engaged in numerous solo and collaborative performances. She performed in recitals and masterclasses, collaborated with the Mason Wind Symphony and Mason vocalists, and in spring 2024 appeared as the piano concerto soloist with the Mason Symphony Orchestra.
With her creative and engaging personality, Ms. Tang looks forward to sharing her passion for music and zest for life through teaching. She aspires to continue bringing inspiring music to audiences and introducing more people to the beauty and joy of music.
Ms. Tang graduated with a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from George Mason University, where she studied under Dr. Linda Apple Monson, International Steinway Artist. She also graduated with distinction from the University of Taipei, Taiwan, earning dual Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance and Learning and Materials Design. In addition to her work as a pianist and educator, Ms. Tang is a freelance graphic and interior designer.
