Part-Time Double Bass Instructor/Teaching Artist for Private Lessons

The Mason Community Arts Academy at George Mason University seeks candidates for the position of part-time Double Bass Instructor for Private Lessons. Candidates must support the mission and educational program needs of the Academy. They will maintain an active studio of private students, starting with 1-2 consistent days per week. The candidate must have experience as a private teacher who understands the needs and capabilities of the developing musician at all stages of artistic development.  They are expected to create a nurturing, yet challenging teaching and performance environment that fosters successful learning.

The candidate is encouraged to take an active role in recruiting and retaining students. In an effort to maintain both credibility and visibility within the community, it is expected that the candidate will make a long-term commitment to the Academy and maintain an active performing profile, which includes participation in faculty performance series, both solo and collaborative at the Academy, and beyond.

A Bachelors Degree in Double Bass Performance or Music Education is required.

Candidates must support the mission and educational program needs of the Academy. They will maintain an active studio of private students, starting with 1-2 consistent days per week. The candidate must have experience as a private teacher who understands the needs and capabilities of the developing musician at all stages of artistic development.  They are expected to create a nurturing, yet challenging teaching and performance environment that fosters successful learning.
