Mason Community Arts Academy at George Mason University seeks confident, team-oriented, and enthusiastic internship candidates for our vibrant Summer Arts at Mason programs in Fairfax, VA. The Summer Arts at Mason internship program is designed to provide college undergraduate, graduate, and rising junior/ senior high school students with an exciting opportunity to work in the arts and arts education and learn from industry professionals, while promoting safety and a positive camp culture. Internship schedules are available weekly throughout the summer, and interns will be paid a weekly stipend.

Candidates must be comfortable interfacing with the general public and available Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm during select weeks between June 19 – August 11. Programming takes place on the Mason Fairfax Campus. Interns will be assigned a weekly schedule based on availability.
Summer Arts at Mason Internship Program – rising college sophomore undergraduate through graduate students have the option to choose one of three concentrations–administration, education, or marketing:
- Administration – work closely with onsite administrative staff to manage day-to-day activities, support programming needs across all focus areas, and ensure smooth camp operations.
- Education – work closely with onsite instructional faculty and administrative staff to assist in the classroom, encourage and mentor students, and assist with student supervision and classroom management.
- Marketing – work closely with administrative staff and the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to assist with promotional materials, graphic design, and media content.
Summer Arts at Mason Junior Internship Program – college freshman undergraduate students and rising junior/senior high school students will work closely with administrative staff and instructional faculty to observe and assist with classroom activities, encourage and mentor students, and assist with day-to-day camp operations.

Acting For Young People Junior Counselor/Internship (Deadline: April 15, 2023)
Summer 2023
Internships are available for our Summer Acting Camp Program at George Mason University in Fairfax. The internship program is designed to provide high school- and college-aged students, as well as recent graduates, with an opportunity to learn about theater and theater education. Working with our camp staff, interns also get to learn from theater professionals from the D.C. Metro area. Interns are paid a weekly stipend.
General Information: Our summer camp runs from approximately mid-June through early August. The day starts at approximately 7:00 am and runs until approximately 4:30 pm. with options for later shifts. There will be planning meetings in the weeks prior to camp.
Junior Counselor positions are open to high school students ages 14+, in grades 9-10.
Internships are open to ages 16+ (high school students in grades 11-12, recent HS grads, and college-aged students.)

Part-Time Soprano Voice Instructor or Teaching Artist

The Mason Community Arts Academy at George Mason University seeks candidates for the position of part-time Voice Instructor (Soprano). Candidates must support the mission and educational program needs of the Academy. He or she will maintain an active studio of private students, starting with 1-2 consistent days per week. The candidate must have experience as a private teacher who understands the needs and capabilities of the developing performer at all stages of artistic development. He or she is expected to create a nurturing, yet challenging teaching and performance environment that fosters successful learning. The candidate is expected to take an active role in recruiting and retaining students. In an effort to maintain both credibility and visibility within the community, it is expected that the candidate will make a long-term commitment to the Academy and maintain an active performing profile, which includes participation in faculty performance series, both solo and collaborative at the Academy, and beyond. A Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance or Education is required.
