Biography
Viola Jr. Instructor
Anna Koumbis is currently the Assistant Principal Violist for George Mason University’s Symphony Orchestra, and has substantial Chamber Orchestra and small ensemble performance experience.
Ms. Koumbis has performed for five years with the Bay Youth Symphony Orchestra of Virginia, to include several side-by-side concerts with the Virginia Symphony. She has also performed for seven years, as a student and now as an instructor, with the Hampton Roads Chamber Players.
Ms. Koumbis graduated from the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School with honors, earning an Advanced Studies Diploma, and selection to the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is currently a Music Education undergraduate student at the Dewberry School of Music at Geroge Mason University. Ms. Koumbis is a student of Professor Nana Vaughn.
Outside of the arts, Ms. Koumbis is active in sports, having played on the Salem High School varsity soccer team, been Team Captain for her Virginia Beach Football Club, and played for the George Mason University’s Club Soccer Team. She is looking forward to teaching and passing on her knowledge and passion for music.
