Biography

Voice Teaching Artist

Dr. Seon Gyu Park is a full lyric soprano who earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance at George Mason University under the tutelage of Professor Patricia Miller. She won the first prize at the Virginia Regional NATS competition and  was the semi-finalist at the Classical Singer National Competition. She recently performed the title role of Massenet’s opera ‘Cendrillon(Cinderella)’ with Amato Opera and the title role of  Smetana’s opera ‘The Bartered Bride’ and also appeared as a soloist in the Praise Celebration of Milal at Carnegie Hall.  Previous credits include Hansel and Gretel (Sandman) with Amato Opera , Così fan tutte (Dorabella) with Hanyang University and Jungmiso Theatre and Die Zauberflöte (2nd lady) with New York Lyric Opera. Scene works includes Don Giovanni (Zerlina) with Promise Ministries International, Le Nozze di Figaro (Countess) with Manhattan School of Music, Madama Butterfly (Cio Cio San) with Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre, La Traviata (Violetta) with Korean Military Academy Orchestra and Gianni Schicchi (Lauretta) with World Milal Choir. She was the recipient of many scholarships, including a full scholarship based on merit at Hanyang University, from which she graduated with honors.

Dr. Seon Gyu Park is a voice/piano teacher who has almost 20 years of experience. She was a public school music teacher and choir conductor in Korea for 5 years. More recently, she taught private lessons in New York City for over 7 years. She is experienced in teaching various genres, including musical theater, pop, gospel and classical music.
