Biography

Violin, Viola, and Piano Teaching Artist

Laura Asenas has over nineteen years of experience teaching strings programs at various elementary schools within the Conejo Valley Unified School District of California, and teaching violin, viola and piano privately in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake area. For seven years, she conducted and managed the CSUN Youth Orchestra Symphony. She also taught at Oaks Christian Middle School as the Strings Director and coached Strings at Moorpark High School and Mesa Verde Middle School, working with both intermediate and advanced levels students. 

Not only passionate about working with children and young adults, Ms. Asenas also loves educating and working with adults in music. She was the Associate Conductor with the Westlake Village Symphony, guest conducted with the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra, and also started her own string orchestra, The FÊTE Ensemble, which performed many outdoor concerts for public education during COVID.

Ms. Asenas has a Masters in Orchestral Conducting from California State University of Northridge, under the baton of Dr. John Roscigno. She has also received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance (Violin) from California Lutheran University, studying with Melissa Phelps-Beckstead.
