Lucas Kremer enjoys a multi-faceted career as a saxophonist, music educator, and arts administrator in the Northern Virginia area. Lucas has worked with Mason Community Arts Academy (MCAA) since 2019, currently serving as a saxophone instructor and administrative assistant.
Lucas welcomes students of all ages and experience levels to study saxophone at MCAA. Lucas strives to create an adaptable and encouraging learning environment for each student based on their musical goals and interests. Lucas’ students have successfully auditioned for All-District Honor Band, received superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble Festival, and regularly perform at MCAA’s end-of-semester recitals.
Lucas performs as a soprano and alto saxophonist with the Penumbra Saxophone Quartet (PSQ). Formed in Fall 2023, PSQ aims to provide a challenging and fun quartet experience for alumni and current students from George Mason University. PSQ’s members are committed to providing quality performances for their Northern Virginia community. The quartet recently performed as part of the 2025 International Saxophone Symposium, hosted by the United States Navy Band.
Lucas graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. At George Mason, Lucas studied saxophone with Prof. Ed Fraedrich, and performed with the Wind Symphony as principal alto saxophonist, the Saxophone Quartet, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Workshop, and Pit Orchestra. Lucas also completed one year of study at the Eastman School of Music and performed with the Eastman Saxophone Project and Eastman Wind Orchestra. Lucas was a multi-year member of Virginia Winds Academy, All-District XI Symphonic Band, and All-Virginia Symphonic Band.
