She has received short term Suzuki violin teacher training through Book 10 with several trainers including Kimberly Meier Sims, Ed Sprunger, Christie Felsing and James Hutchins. She studied privately with John Kendall from 2002 – 2004 and during that time served as a demonstrator for his teacher training classes. Dedicated to ongoing teacher development, coursework she recently completed through the Suzuki Association of the Americas includes Teaching Strategies, Supplemental Repertoire and Suzuki Group Class Techniques.
Ms. Katsarelis also maintains a private studio in Burke, Virginia and serves on the faculty of Levine Music where she served as the Chair of the Suzuki Strings Department from 2010 until 2021. Because of her passionate belief in the value of studying chamber music, she took on the direction of Levine Strings Camp in 2019. For many years, she maintained a private studio in Prince William County and was an active orchestral musician, performing as a member of the Fairfax Symphony, Roanoke Symphony and other groups.
For pleasure, she enjoys the quiet pursuits of hiking, reading, exploring new music and hanging out with her two cats.
