French Horn Teaching Artist
William Hernandez is a passionate DMV native dedicated to making music accessible for all. As a first-generation American, his career is fueled by a mission to inspire through Latino representation. With a background in Education, Mr. Hernandez is a versatile freelance musician contributing to musical pit orchestras, international movie scores, and chamber groups across Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Mr. Hernandez actively engages in artist advocacy, striving to uplift and expand the national network for underrepresented Latino classical musicians. Notably, he plays a role with Quinteto Latino, a Bay Area non-profit organization that advocates and amplifies support by connecting Latino musicians nationwide, as an active member in programming.
Currently, Mr. Hernandez is serving as a graduate assistant for the Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band at the University of Maryland. He holds a Bachelor’s in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Delaware and is pursuing a Master of Music in Horn performance at the University of Maryland, College Park, under the guidance of Gregory Miller. His mentors include Amanda Collins, Dr. John David Smith, Dr. Lauren Hunt, Larry Williams, and Armando Castellano.
