Chloe Lewis started playing piano at three years old with her grandmother, who was a classically trained pianist. She grew up in a musical family, and she found her love for music through performing chamber music with her siblings. She and her family joined Mason Community Arts Academy (MCAA) in 2014.

As a student at the Academy, Ms. Lewis studied piano with Dr. Michelle Richardson, as well as voice and cello lessons. She participated in MCAA’s Piano Academy for many Summers, eventually becoming a student assistant, while also having the opportunity to work with Dr. Anna Balakerskaia, professor of piano at George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music.

Ms. Lewis participated in many MCAA programs over the years, including the Summer Music Chamber Intensive and Vivace! Musicianship, studying with Dewberry School of Music professors and guest artists. She also assisted the Academy’s young beginners and elementary piano group classes with Dr. Richardson.

Additionally, at MCAA, Ms. Lewis has devoted hundreds of hours as a teaching assistant and collaborative pianist, working with students at various piano programs and performing at multiple MCAA outreach events like Arts By George!, Mason ARC Conference, and the City of Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts Festival.

Ms. Lewis graduated from Wheaton College, IL with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, where she studied with Dr. Karin Edwards, Dr. Hyejin Cho, Dr. Michael Messer, and Dr. Sung Hoon Mo. She also participated in Women’s Chorale as Alto 2 and Soprano 2, and played collaboratively in many chamber music groups.
