Hitting a High Note at Summer Flute Camp

At the Mason Summer Flute Academy, flute equals fun. Led by Mason School of Music Professor Julianna Nickel, this one week intensive for teens brings a whole new dimension to flute playing, leaving students motivated and empowered – it even includes a flute choir! The program will run June 18-22 and takes place in Mason’s School of Music.

“We will learn all the quirky things about the flute,” said Professor Nickel. “This includes unique ways to warm up, ways to get ready for a competition, how to clean the flute, and how to do extended techniques that will dazzle your friends!”

Aaron Goldman, Flute Camp

Part of Summer Music Intensive Week at Mason, the Academy includes special guest artist Aaron Goldman (pictured above), principal flutist of the National Symphony Orchestra. He will perform for the students and answer questions about his life as a top level performing artist.

“The camp is a virtual spa week for flute students!” exclaimed Ms. Nickel. “Flutists will have fun, make new friends, and leave ready to show off new skills.”

A Residential Option is also available for this program.
