Advanced Musicianship Supplemental Program
Vivace! (grades 7-12) and Vivace! Jr (grades 4-6) are musical enrichment programs for devoted music students seeking to enliven, enhance and intensify their musical studies, and connect with a like-minded community of dedicated musicians.
Along with regular private lessons*, older Vivace! students (grades 7-12) will take part in a weekly Art of Music course in the Fall, and Chamber Ensembles in the Spring. For younger musicians (grades 4-6), Vivace! Jr consists of a weekly Art of Music course in both the fall and spring semesters. The Art of Music course will cover ear training, music theory and history, as well as basic keyboard skills. The course will also feature guest speakers from Mason School of Music faculty.
Chamber Ensemble groups will take older students from the classroom to the rehearsal room, where they will learn to play in ensembles and hone and polish their performance skills. Student ensembles will be guided by Academy faculty in weekly coachings and monthly performance classes.
*As part of the Vivace! curriculum, students must be enrolled in a weekly 45 or 60 minute private lesson (at the Academy) for their primary instrument. Students in the Vivace! Jr program must be enrolled in a weekly private lesson of any length.
