Young Kids Start Their Musical Journey

Our “First Steps in Music for Ages 4-7” class includes curriculum created by music & movement development specialist John Feierabend. This is an excellent program that allows young children to experience and explore music through singing, moving and playing.

“First Steps in Music prepares young children in music by doing activities that help them to be tuneful, beatful, and artful,” explains instructor Lisa Zargarpur. “Children sing simple songs, play musical games, move to classical and world music, and create their own musical ideas… all in a developmentally appropriate way. Children will also have opportunities to try classroom instruments and use props such as puppets, scarves, and ribbons.”

The First Steps program is an excellent way to introduce children to music and musical concepts and  to prepare them for such things as our Piano classes, Voice classes and Violin classes.

“We will sing songs based on stories like Owl Moon and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? says Ms. Zargarpur. “We will move to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Beethoven, and Copeland… Students will play hand drums to accompany simple songs and rhymes. We might even build an instrument or two to use at home. We can’t wait for you to join us!”

The Spring 2017 Semester session will begin on Tuesday, February 14th, with classes running every Tuesday from 5:00-5:45 p.m. for 10 weeks. Sign your child up today!
